Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN for Industrial IoT: Configuration, Monitoring, Security, and Troubleshooting is a five-day instructor-led course designed for Network Engineers, SD-WAN Administrators, OT/IT Convergence Teams, and Cisco Partners responsible for deploying and supporting Industrial IoT WAN edge environments. The course provides a practical, hands-on examination of Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN as it applies to industrial and operational technology environments, with a focus on designing, deploying, securing, monitoring, and troubleshooting SD-WAN fabrics built around Cisco ruggedized Industrial Routers and Industrial Switches.
Participants learn how Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN architecture supports distributed industrial environments through orchestration, management, control, and data-plane components. The course covers Controller Deployment, Certificates and Allow Lists, WAN edge Onboarding, Zero Touch Provisioning, Quick Connect, Software Upgrades, SD-WAN Manager Administration, OMP, BFD, Segmentation, Application-Aware Routing, QoS, Security, and Centralized Policy Operations. Special attention is given to the transition from the legacy UX 1.0 template-based configuration model to the current UX 2.0 operating model using Configuration Groups, Feature Profiles, Policy Groups, and Topology Groups.
The course also addresses Industrial IoT-specific deployment requirements, including ruggedized platform selection, cellular and low-bandwidth field connectivity, high availability, time synchronization, OT asset visibility, secure remote access, edge application hosting, and industrial access-layer integration. Students work with technologies such as Cisco Catalyst IR1100, IR1800, IR8140H, IR8300/IR8340 routers, Cisco Catalyst IE-series switches, Cisco Cyber Vision, Cisco Secure Equipment Access, Cisco ThousandEyes, Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Analytics, and Cisco IOS XE Catalyst SD-WAN.
Through lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on labs, learners gain the skills needed to provision industrial WAN edge devices, deploy policies, integrate OT visibility and remote access tools, validate SD-WAN fabric health, troubleshoot control-plane and data-plane issues, and support real-world Industrial IoT environments where availability, security, segmentation, and operational visibility are critical.
